Park Service Interview

For our interview/new project our topic was how the government shutdown affected people in our local area.  We focused on how it affected the Forest Service employees. I worked behind the camera filming the interviews. I had to set up the shot and lighting.  Tommy interviewed the employees asking them questions like "how has it affected the workplace environment?" Aiden had the inside connection with his dad working there, which made us able to do this interview.  I liked working with Tommy and Aiden because we are new to the class this year and it was fun to do it together.

We took some B-Roll at the Forest Service office but we wanted more.  So the next day we went out towards the Lyebrook falls trailhead and took pictures and videos.  It was fun to film nature, which is one of my favorite things to do with my phone, but with an actual camera it was much cooler.  We all took turns taking different pictures and panning shots of signs and trees. We even tried to get a video out of the window of Aiden's car which we knew wasn't gonna work but we tried anyway.  As you can guess it didn't work and was very shaky but I learned from it.

When we got back to school we put everything onto the computer and started to edit the film.  It was kind of hard to edit seeing that only one of us could be on the computer while the other two had to stand over watching.  We made it work though, everybody had their own input into what clips we should use and when we should put b-roll in.  All in all it was a very fun first interview and I learned a ton from just this one project.
