The scene I picked to do my scene analysis is from my favorite movie of all time, Inception.  The scene I chose was in the beginning when Ariadne learns how to build dreams. This is a powerful part in the movie because it is the first glimpse at what you can do inside of someone’s self conscious.  First I didn’t expect that much to happen and then it absolutely left me speechless. I was happy because I’m really into sci-fi, black mirror, things like that and when the city folds onto itself I was so amazed.  To be honest this scene really helped me to realize that this movie was going to be great. It put me into a complete sci-fi tone and brought me into the world of dreams. This is my favorite movie so I may be a little biased but this scene is one of the most powerful scenes in any movies.  I’m really into the far out, crazy, and maybe impossible movies and this one hits that on the spot.

My favorite part about this scene is when everything in the shot looks normal and then the city starts to fold over on itself.  You see the city start to move and then watch the entire thing fold over and connect with the other side like it’s a puzzle piece.  This scene is so powerful because it’s the first shot where it shows how they can show people’s self-conscious. The special effects that are used in this movie are incredible.  Most of the shots in this scene are from in front of the two people and it’s shaky to make the effect that they are walking. These shots aren’t as cinematic , but give you the feel that you are there walking on the streets with them. For the majority of the shots they are closer up, fitting just both of the two characters in them.  There are a couple of back shots of them walking and also one where they are walking straight up a wall that then shifts to make it so they are walking flat again.

The overall impact and message of the scene was really just the first dip into going into someone’s dreams.  You are set up with a cool idea of what is going to happen in the movie before you see this scene. When these shots come it completely blows you mind.  It lets you ow that anything can happen when in a person's subconscious. There is dialogue in this scene explaining how dream building works and what not to do inside someone else's dreams. Every shot is a very abrupt cut and this happens a lot throughout the scene.  As I said before none of the shots are steadicam. The majority of them are shaky which is trying to show that they are walking. The analysis of this scene really helps me to understand the style of shooting that the director uses. He wants you to feel like you are in the movie and that something intense is about to happen.
