There movie is set in a town, that’s main attraction are it’s beaches, on Amity Island.  The sheriff finds remains of a victim of a shark attack and because of this he wants to close the beaches to the public.  The mayor doesn’t agree since the island’s main attraction is their beaches. He doesn’t close them and shortly after a little boy is taken victim by another shark. The mother of the child tells locals that she will pay locals to hunt down the shark.  A local fisherman, the sheriff, and another man embark to hunt down the shark. Soon they realize that the shark is much bigger than they expected and need to find “a bigger boat.” They need to stop this shark so it doesn’t terrorize Amity Island and take any more victims.  The conflict in the film is that the shark is HUGE and they are trying to catch it with a small crew.

 

I always put off watching this movie because I didn’t want to freak myself out about swimming in the ocean.  I didn’t think watching the movie was worth not wanting to swim when I went to the beach. I finally decided to watch it and it lived up to the hype.  My favorite part about the movie was the characters. They were all so captivating and all interesting people. They all seem like such normal people and accurate representations of if this situation was actually real. Everybody says that the movie will keep you on the edge of your seat and I always thought that that was an overstatement but when I watched it, I realized that is spot on.  I was intrigued by every twist and turn the movie threw at me. The movie got me to the point where I was literally yelling out loud saying things like “Let’s go!!” or “Oh no!!” One of my favorite parts about horror/thriller movies is music. The music in these types of movies can either make it bad or amazing. This movie had the greatest music I’ve almost ever heard in a thriller movie. Everything about the music adds suspense and makes the movie more intriguing.

 

I would recommend this movie to anyway who likes classics and thrillers.  I didn’t think it was going to be that intense when I first decided to watch it because it is an older movie, but the movie was pretty scary.  The movie will put you in a trance where anyone who tries to interrupt you while your watching might get slapped. The characters make the movie not just great but amazing. If you like movies that are thrilling and intense while also having comedic relief this is a perfect movie.  I’d recommend maybe not watching this movie in the summer but winter is the perfect time. Some people look at classics and say that movie is so old why would I watch that, but I believe that anyone who watches this movie will enjoy a lot.
